Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney has begun a series of treatments to fix an ankle injury suffered in the AFC Championship Game.
Freeney set up the use of a hyperbaric chamber to help, a usual technique he uses to try to heal from injuries quickly.
The swelling and pain have bothered him all week.
McKinnie Tossed From Pro Bowl Squad
Vikings offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie has been dismissed from the Pro Bowl for unexcused absences.
The NFL said McKinnie missed practice Friday and Saturday and is subject to a fine.
McKinnie later said that he's too injured to play.
Freeney Misses Second Practice
Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney missed practice on Thursday for the second straight day with a sprained right ankle.
Coach Jim Caldwell said Freeney was "coming along" in his recovery but did not provide details.
Indianapolis still expects the defender to play in the Super Bowl.
Cedric Griffin To Undergo Knee Surgery
Vikings cornerback Cedric Griffin will have surgery on his left knee and may not be ready for the start of the 2010 season.
Griffin was hurt covering the overtime kickoff in Minnesota's loss at New Orleans in the NFC Championship Game.
He led Minnesota with four interceptions this season.
"Everybody heals a little bit differently, so he'll be right on the edge I'm sure," coach Brad Childress said.
Shockey Takes Part In Walkthrough
Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey participated in the team's walkthrough on Saturday.
Shockey had been limited in practice all week because of a knee injury.
Sources told NFL.com that the tight end was moving much better on Saturday and that he is expected to face the Vikings in Sunday's NFC Championship Game.
Shockey's Status For Sunday In Question
Saints coach Sean Payton says that tight end Jeremy Shockey is questionable for Sunday's game with a knee injury.
Shockey sat out practice for the third straight day on Friday.
Harvin Questionable With Migraine
Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin is questionable for this weekend's NFC Championship Game due to a migraine.
He missed practice on Friday with the issue and Minnesota coach Brad Childress said "it's hard for me to even handicap" whether Harvin can play Sunday.
Harvin, also a standout kick returner, had 60 receptions for 790 yards and six touchdowns in 2009.
Forte Undergoes Knee Surgery
Matt Forte had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee within the last two weeks, according to multiple sources.
The clean-up procedure followed a post-season MRI.
Forte sprained the medial collateral ligament in his knee during the Bears' 25-19 victory at Seattle in Week 3, though it is unclear if the surgery is in relation to that injury.
Although Forte ran better toward the end of the season, he averaged just 3.6 yards per carry, down from his 3.9-yard average as a rookie.
McAllister Officially Retires From NFL
Longtime Saints running back Deuce McAllister has officially retired from the NFL.
The decision writes an end to an eight-year career that was marked by injuries and the rewriting of the New Orleans' rushing record book.
McAllister hasn't played since 2008 but briefly rejoined the Saints last week to serve as an honorary captain for the club's playoff victory over the Cardinals on Saturday.
Ellis Will Face Colts With Hand In Cast
Jets defensive end Shaun Ellis has a broken left hand, but he expects to play against the Colts in this weekend's AFC Championship Game.
The injury will require surgery after the season.
Ellis was injured early in New York's 17-14 win over San Diego this past Sunday. He said Monday that his hand "just gave out" when he was blocked by an offensive lineman.
"I tried to just finish that series out," Ellis said. "Then, once I got to the sideline, I was like, 'You know what, my hand is broken.' Then, they checked and were like, 'Yeah, you're right, it is.' "
