Antonio Brown Accuses Saints Of 'Publicity Stunt' Workout

Dec 31, 2019 12:05 PM

Antonio Brown accused the New Orleans Saints of bringing him in for a workout as a publicity stunt.

“I know I got a really crusty tone lately,” Brown said. “But really I’m at peace. I just don’t like the lack of respect in the world. You know, everyone has deadlines. I guess the NFL don’t have a deadline for me, so. I appreciate Sean Payton and them guys for supporting me and bringing me out to work out. But I think it was a publicity stunt for them. Sean Payton know[s] the feeling of being left behind, not being able to interact with his team. I don’t have a team. But it is what it is. We don’t seek comfort. We don’t make excuses. I’m [going to] just keep committing to be the difference. ‘Cause I know I’m the difference.”

Brown is in limbo as he remains under investigation under the Personal Conduct Policy.

Dec 31, 2019 8:22 AM

Joe Mixon is eligible for a contract extension for the first time and wants to get negotiations with the Cincinnati Bengals moving.

"I want to be a Bengal for life," Mixon said. "I haven't really thought about an extension. Right now is definitely the time to start getting into it. I don't know much about the extension part. I just have to go in and hopefully we work something out. I just wish for the best. The ball is in their court, not mine."

Mixon's production rose in the second half of the season for the 2-14 Bengals.

Antonio Brown Works Out For Saints

Dec 27, 2019 9:59 PM

Antonio Brown has been brought in by the New Orleans Saints for a workout.

Brown, 31, is being investigated by the NFL under its personal conduct policy after a lawsuit filed by his former trainer, Britney Taylor, that alleges she was sexually assaulted by Brown on multiple occasions. Brown also was accused of sexual misconduct at his home by an artist who was working there in 2017.

The Saints have been thin on proven wide receiver depth for the past two years. Michael Thomas just set the NFL record for catches in a season with 145, but no other receiver on the team has more than 29 receptions.

Philip Rivers Wants To Play Football But Many Factors At Play

Dec 22, 2019 11:14 PM

The future of Philip Rivers is uncertain at the age of 38 years old and a disappointing 2019 season.

"I'm capable enough physically and mentally, there's no question," Rivers said. "Yes, I do want to play football. I do, and that's how I feel deep down as I stand here."

Rivers, however, also went on to say he will take some time to discuss his decision with his family and also the Los Angeles Chargers to see if they want him back.

"There's a lot of factors," Rivers said. "There's a personal side and family side to mine. I'm going to have a daughter in college as well, too. So time is ticking, and I've got a sixth-grade son that I've got to get ready to coach at some point, so there's all kinds of factors.

"But I know I can still do it, and I know I can still do it at a high enough level for us to win. I have not done it well enough this year, but I still do love to play, and love to lead these guys and this team. It's been an array of things that have compounded, to keep us from winning enough games to advance into the tournament."

Austin Ekeler Expects 'Frenzy' Around Chargers With Free Agency Near

Dec 19, 2019 8:39 AM

The Los Angeles Chargers have a number of players headed for free agency, which could make for a lot of roster turnover this offseason.

Philip Rivers, Melvin Gordon, Michael Schofield and Hunter Henry are all set for free agency.

Austin Ekeler will be a restricted free agent as well.

"I think upstairs they're trying to keep that on the down low until the season's over because it's about to be a frenzy in our locker room, especially on the offensive side with all the contracts that are coming up," Ekeler said.

"Everyone's kind of looking around like, 'Hey, what do you guys think is going to go on?' None of us know. We don't know what they're going to do upstairs. We know what we want. But that's a different story."

Bengals Committed To Using Franchise Tag On A.J. Green

Dec 17, 2019 10:52 PM

The Cincinnati Bengals are committed to using the franchise tag on A.J. Green if they're unable to sign him to an extension by March, a high-level source said.

The two sides have been far apart in negotiations as Green is currently in the final season of a four-year, $60 million deal he signed before the 2015 season.

Green would earn approximately $18 million under the franchise tag. Green has said he doesn't want to play under the franchise tag but he would accept it for one year.

Green underwent left ankle surgery to repair the damage on July 30. Green hasn't participated in a practice since Nov. 4.
