Nov 30, 2018 8:38 AM

The New York Giants have yet to make a decision on the future of Eli Manning with the franchise.

Management is open to Manning returning as the starter of the Giants in 2019, though a decision has "absolutely not" been made.

Manning is signed through 2019 with a salary of $11.5 million, is due a $5 million roster bonus in March, and has a salary cap number of $23.2 million.

The Giants are likely to have a top-10 selection in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Washington Claims Reuben Foster Off Waivers

Nov 27, 2018 10:10 PM

Washington claimed Reuben Foster off waivers three days after he was arrested on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge.

Foster was subsequently placed on the commissioner's exempt list, meaning he cannot practice or attend games but can be at the team facility on "a reasonable basis" for workouts, meetings and other permitted non-football activities.

Washington was the only team to put in a waiver claim for Foster.

Foster was a first round pick in 2017 by the San Francisco 49ers.

According to the arrest report, the woman pressing charges against Foster for Saturday night's incident is Elissa Ennis, with whom Foster has been involved off and on for three years. It wasn't their first domestic incident.

Le'Veon Bell Affected By Business Tainting Purity Of Football

Nov 27, 2018 3:03 PM

According to one person close to him, Le'Veon Bell said he was affected by the business of football tainting its purity.

Bell had developed into one of the NFL's best players but was told his worth doesn't correlate with other great players.

Bell was told by the Pittsburgh Steelers in January that they planned to sign him to a long-term extension and put the franchise tag to rest. But the Steelers don't typically guarantee money beyond the first year of a deal, but try to honor the contracts of their homegrown players.

Bell said in January he would consider sitting out 2018 or retiring if the Steelers asked him to play under the franchise tag.

49ers To Release Reuben Foster After Domestic Violence Arrest

Nov 25, 2018 3:32 PM

The San Francisco 49ers will release Reuben Foster following a charge of misdemeanor domestic violence.

Foster was arrested Saturday at 9:10 p.m. at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Tampa and booked into jail two hours later. Foster's bond was set at $2,000 during a bail hearing Sunday morning along with orders to avoid any contact with the accuser. Foster was released on bond Sunday afternoon.

Foster was previously arrested on charges of felony domestic violence stemming from a February incident at his home in Los Gatos.

According to the arrest report, the woman pressing charges against Foster for Saturday night's arrest is Elissa Ennis, the same woman who accused Foster of felony domestic violence earlier this year.

"We have a set of standards in place that the players were involved with in developing," John Lynch said. "In this case, it was communicated exceptionally clear and to the point as to what we expected out of him and unfortunately what transpired yesterday, this isn't a comment on what happened there because that would be mere speculation on our part. It's more of a comment on him not living up to what we had communicated and to the energy and the time that we've invested in him.

"That doesn't mean we don't love him, we all do, we care for him but we feel like it's in the best interest of our organization to move on at this point and that's a very tough decision."

Washington Signs Mark Sanchez

Nov 19, 2018 7:20 PM

Washington has signed Mark Sanchez to be backup quarterback to Colt McCoy following the season ending injury to Alex Smith.

Washington opted for Sanchez from a group that also included E.J. Manuel, Kellen Clemens, Josh Johnson and T.J. Yates.

Jay Gruden said that familiarity was part of the team's decision to go with Sanchez.

"We had a workout today; looked pretty good," Gruden said Monday. "But [it's] based on his past experiences with Coach (Kevin) O'Connell and (Matt) Cavanaugh. He's won some playoff games, he's got a lot of experience. I think this time of the year, you need somebody who's taken some meaningful snaps, [with] a lot of experience, and Mark's done that."

Le'Veon Bell, Steelers Made Late Contract Push Before Deadline

Nov 18, 2018 11:39 AM

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Le'Veon Bell both made late pushes leading to Tuesday's deadline.

The Steelers were told that if they were willing to not use their franchise or transition tag on Bell after this season, he would consider reporting to the team.

Pittsburgh declined Bell's request, which sets up a battle between the NFL's management council and the NFL Players Association in a potentially precedent-setting case over Bell's future.

The management council believes the Steelers will be able to use a $9.5 million transition tag on Bell this offseason that would give Pittsburgh the chance to match any offer sheet he signs with a rival team.

The NFLPA believes that the transition tag must be $14.54 million.
