Jaguars Sign Landry Jones

Oct 31, 2018 1:48 PM

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed Landry Jones.

Blake Bortles suffered an injury to his non-throwing shoulder, but is expected to play in Week 10.

Jones, whom the Jaguars recently had in for a workout, spent the past five seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Jones went 3-2 as a starter in place of Ben Roethlisberger. The Steelers cut Jones on Sept. 1, opting to keep Joshua Dobbs as Roethlisberger's backup.

Frank Clark Willing To Play Under Franchise Tag With Seahawks

Oct 23, 2018 10:39 AM

Frank Clark is in no rush to sign a contract extension with the Seattle Seahawks.

Clark wants to become one of the NFL's highest-paid pass rushers and would be fine playing on the franchise tag first.

"I have had several very productive and positive talks with the Seahawks," agent Erik Burkhardt said. "Frank loves it there and believes they'll continue to produce as one of the NFL's dominant defenses even with the departure of many great players. ... Seattle has been very good to him. They've believed in him from the beginning and they've continued to help develop him.

"But the financial goal for players in every major sport now is to get to free agency. It often baffles me how some of these agents do early deals just for the sake of doing a deal. I know that it's football and injury risks are very real, but there's insurance policies to protect players' downsides and risks, along with other measures that we put in place to protect our guys. Just to do an early deal for the sake of doing an early deal doesn't excite us, especially for a guy like Frank who's already a dominant pass-rusher in this league and is just scratching the surface of what he will be."

Clark is in the final season of his rookie contract.

Jerry Jones Says Cowboys Haven't Had No. 1 WR In Years

Oct 10, 2018 8:45 AM

There have been calls for the Dallas Cowboys to re-sign Dez Bryant as they struggle to be productive in the passing game, but Jerry Jones doesn't believe he'd fix anything.

Jones told 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday that the Cowboys haven't had a No. 1 receiver in "several years."

The Cowboys released Bryant in April in part because he was due to make $12.5 million in 2018.

"I'm basically giving you my definition of a No. 1 receiver, and it is Julio Jones. It is the guy we played the other night [DeAndre Hopkins]," Jones said. "Those are the guys. There's not but about a handful of those in the NFL."

The Cowboys opted to replace Bryant with a committee approach at wide receiver, but through five games, none of the six on the 53-man roster has reached 200 yards.

Dez Bryant revealed on social media this week that he's been battling depression and anxiety.

Bryant turned down a multi-year offer from the Baltimore Ravens shortly after he was released by the Dallas Cowboys. He also turned down an offer from the Cleveland Browns during training camp.

Those close to the wide receiver say he's been working on his mental and physical fitness.

Bryant had 69 receptions for 838 yards and six touchdowns last season.
