Richard Sherman Expects 49ers To Pursue Earl Thomas

Dec 28, 2018 11:39 AM

Richard Sherman expects the San Francisco 49ers to pursue Earl Thomas in free agency.

“If they need me to be, I have no problem with it,” Sherman told reporters on Thursday.

“I think this is a pretty attractive destination as is. But money is the best recruiter. I’ll give my two cents. I’ll give you my best recruiting pitch.”

The 49ers are expected to have $70 million in cap space.

“Would I love to play with Earl Thomas III? I would love to,” Sherman said. “I would love to have him back in the locker room. But I’m sure he’ll have a plethora of opportunities, and I’m sure we’re going to throw our hat in the ring.”

The 49ers have a group of young safeties, but no guaranteed starters among the group that includes Jaquiski Tartt, Adrian Colbert, Marcell Harris and D.J. Reed.

Ryan Tannehill Hopes To Finish Career With Dolphins

Dec 27, 2018 2:56 PM

The future of Ryan Tannehill with the Miami Dolphins is uncertain, but he would like to remain with the franchise.

"What's the good in wondering and pondering and wasting time thinking about it?" Tannehill said, via the Palm Beach Post. "It's out of my control now. I'm focused on winning this one game in Buffalo."

The Dolphins could save $13.18 million on Tannehill's $26.6 million salary cap number by cutting him.

"Honestly, I haven't put a whole lot of thought into it," Tannehill said. "I have a lot of belief in myself. I know what I can bring to the table wherever it is. But I want to be here. I want to finish my career as a Dolphin and win a championship here. That's what they brought me here for and that's what I came to do."

Jackson missed the next three games and returned in Week 16 against the Dallas Cowboys, finishing with one reception for 24 yards.

Chris Godwin has emerged as Tampa Bay's No. 2 receiver.

Tom Brady Restates Intention To Play In 2019

Dec 26, 2018 10:26 AM

Tom Brady has reaffirmed his plan to continue his playing career in 2019 and beyond.

"I absolutely believe I will. I know I've talked about it for a long time: I have goals to not only play next year, but beyond that," Brady said in his weekly interview on Westwood One. "I'm going to try to do it as best I possibly can. I'm going to give it everything I have, like I always have.

"It will certainly be a challenge. I don't take any of these things for granted, but I hope I can keep playing, and I hope I can keep playing at a championship level."

Brady's current contract with the New England Patriots expires after the 2019 season.

Brady discussed the place football has in his life.

"I've been able to be in a career for 19 years that I love. I wake up every day excited to go to work. I wake up every day fulfilled with what I'm doing. I don't think there's any greater gift in my life than to have that," he said.

"Along with that has come a lot of other very cool opportunities, but in my heart and soul, I love playing the sport of football and it's brought me so much joy in my life. It tests you in so many ways. I've been dealing with it for a long time. There's anxiousness and nerves, and joy and happiness. There's disappointment and frustration. The emotions run the gamut. But if you can stay and build your mental toughness, it's just been incredibly rewarding. I'm a very, very lucky man."

Le'Veon Bell Has Interest In Signing With Colts

Dec 21, 2018 5:39 PM

Le'Veon Bell reportedly has interest in signing with the Indianapolis Colts in free agency.

“He has his eyes on the Colts, no doubt about that,” an unnamed source told Ralph Vacchiano of SNY. “He sees [quarterback Andrew] Luck and that offense and all that cap room and they’re much closer than the Jets. He wants to go someplace he can win right away.”

Bell also has interest in signing with the New York Jets, who have been linked to him for months.

Cardinals Claim Pharoh Cooper Off Waivers

Dec 20, 2018 8:22 AM

The Arizona Cardinals have claimed Pharoh Cooper off waivers from the Los Angeles Rams.

The Rams waived the return man on Tuesday and he could now play against them on Sunday.

"They're getting a great competitor, a tough football player. He has great instincts when the ball is in his hands, a hard worker. We think the world of him here," Sean McVay said.

The Rams waived Cooper to open a spot to sign C.J. Anderson, who was added as insurance with Todd Gurley dealing with a knee injury.

"Really, it wasn't anything that Pharoh didn't do. It was more a result of just a numbers deal, where two of our three running backs on the active roster were banged up, and we had to create a spot. That's really a big added bonus, and I wish him nothing but the best," McVay said.
