Raiders Likely To Part Ways With Michael Crabtree

Dec 31, 2017 3:30 PM

The Oakland Raiders will likely move on from Michael Crabtree in the offseason.

Sources say Crabtree's production is not worth the issues they've had with him off the field.

Crabtree is owed a $7 million salary in 2018, the third season of a four-year, $34 million extension he signed late in 2015. No dead money against the salary cap will accompany his anticipated release, given that extension included no signing bonus or guarantees in the deal’s second half.

Crabtree entered Week 17 with 56 receptions for 601 yards and eight touchdowns.

Brandon Marshall Wants To Return To Giants

Dec 29, 2017 9:31 AM

Brandon Marshall would like to return to the New York Giants next season at the age of 33.

Marshall missed the final 11 games of the season due to ankle surgery.

Marshall has continued to train and rehab at the Giants' facility.

"I'm all-in on football. I've rebuilt my body. I think I'm two great years away from -- and I'll say it, I want to be a Hall of Famer, and I think I got two great years to go to be mentioned with some of the greats," Marshall said. "I'm not just playing this game just to be a guy; I want to be remembered for the product that I put out on the field.

"So these last few years have been tough, last year with the Jets, this year with the Giants. But I'm hopeful that the next couple years for me will be some amazing years and some of my best work."

Marshall could earn up to $5.5 million, but he produced just 18 catches for 154 yards in five games before suffering the injury and needing surgery.

Marshall understands the reality of the situation.

"You know how it is, you get to the plus side of 30, a production slip, you get injured, the business side of it, history says that you're going to get cut or they are going to ask you to take a pay cut," he said. "That's the business side of it, that's history. So I'm prepared for that. I've had a lot of change in my life, but one of the reasons why I came to this organization was for stability and also not to be an environment that we created this year, right? So I was looking for more stability, but I'm built for this and I'll learn from it."

Kirk Cousins Wants To Be Associated With Winning

Dec 27, 2017 11:01 AM

Kirk Cousins wants Washington to be a team known for winning without drama.

"I want this brand, this organization, to be associated with winning and when people around the league and our fans that support this league think about this organization, I want them to think of winners," Cousins said.

He was asked about the possibility of finishing 8-8.

Washington could use the franchise tag on Cousins again this offseason.

Cousins could conceivably end up with the Steelers if Ben Roethlisberger retires while the Giants, Vikings, Cardinals, Broncos, Jaguars, Bills, Jets and Dolphins are also potential destinations.

Cousins was previously linked to the 49ers but they are set at quarterback following their trade for Jimmy Garoppolo.

NFL Could Have 11 Teams Making Change At QB This Offseason

Dec 21, 2017 2:24 PM

While approximately seven teams per offseason make a change at quarterback and there were six teams this past offseason, there could be as many as 11 teams making a change with either their current or long-term QB1 in 2018.

That assumption even excludes a surprise move such as when the Chiefs traded up to draft Patrick Mahomes at last year's draft.

There are six teams that are virtually guaranteed to have a new quarterback next year.

The 2018 draft class could have as many as five quarterbacks selected in the first round.

Kirk Cousins headlines the list of free agent quarterbacks.

Robert Griffin III Says He Turned Down Offers From Cardinals, Ravens

Dec 14, 2017 8:23 AM

Robert Griffin III hasn't found an NFL home since the Cleveland Browns cut him in the offseason.

The quarterback, however, claims he's had offers.

"I had an offer from Arizona, and also from Baltimore," Griffin told ESPN.

Griffin didn't want to be the fourth quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals and the offer from the Baltimore Ravens came right before the team's preseason opener and he didn't feel he had enough time to prepare.

"I had interest in the offseason," Griffin said. "It just wasn't the right fit and I had to make that decision for myself to say, 'Look, if I don't accept this offer, there's a chance I won't play football this year.' And I would talk to my family, and I was OK with that, OK with the fact that it might happen."

49ers Waiting Until Offseason To Discuss Contract With Jimmy Garoppolo

Dec 11, 2017 10:42 PM

The San Francisco 49ers won't begin talks with Jimmy Garoppolo on a new contract until the offseason.

The 49ers can use the franchise tag on Garoppolo, which means there is a lack of urgency on their end.

"Obviously, we're very encouraged with how these two games have been," Kyle Shanahan said. "We'll see what happens here in the offseason when we get together and can assess everything. But I definitely don't think that's something he's thinking about at this point and it's definitely not something that I'm thinking about either."

Garoppolo completed 20 of 33 for 334 yards with a touchdown and interception in the 49ers' 26-16 victory in his second start.
