Tyrod Taylor Could Undergo Sports Hernia Surgery, Cost Bills $30.5M

Dec 30, 2016 9:07 AM

Tyrod Taylor will be seen by Dr. William Meyers for a severe groin injury to determine if he needs surgery.

If that happens to Taylor, the clock will begin to tick on whether he can pass a physical before the third day of the 2017 league year.

The procedure could cost the Bills $30.5 million in guaranteed money to Taylor, who the franchise appears to prefer to move on from.

Le'Veon Bell Wants To Re-Sign With Steelers

Dec 28, 2016 6:50 PM

Le'Veon Bell would like to remain with the Pittsburgh Steelers long-term as he approaches free agency.

Bell addressed the media after winning the team's top honor as voted by players in the locker room, said "I want to be a Pittsburgh Steeler."

"We're going to try to do whatever it takes to make that happen," said Bell, who also won the team award in 2014.

Bell is averaging 157.0 yards from scrimmage per game.

The Steelers can place a franchise tag on Bell for $12.37 million. Bell has said in the past he's not worried about the contractual component of his future, only winning games this season.

Colin Kaepernick Won't Leave NFL For Political Pursuits In 2017

Dec 28, 2016 11:51 AM

Colin Kaepernick can be a free agent in 2017 and his future with the San Francisco 49ers remains uncertain as they rebuild.

On Tuesday, Kaepernick also shot down speculation he might turn to political and social pursuits full time when he offered an emphatic "yes" when asked whether he "for sure wanted to play in the NFL next season."

Kaepernick has had some good moments this season and has seemed to have a good relationship with Chip Kelly. Kaepernick previously expressed gratitude for the support he received from Kelly for his protests. Those protests also have been better received in the Bay Area than they've been in other NFL markets, which could be appealing to Kaepernick.

Kaepernick is also healthy again and said he feels he has "gotten more and more back to myself" as the weeks have gone by.

"It has been a long time since I've felt this good," Kaepernick said. "I just felt fluid on the field. For me, that's something I want to be able to continue to build on and, especially moving forward, making sure that I'm doing everything to keep myself here and being able to improve that.

"I do know this is the best I've felt in a long time and, once again, I'm excited about that."

Larry Fitzgerald Hints He May Play Elsewhere In 2017

Dec 21, 2016 11:15 AM

During an interview with Jim Gray on Westwood One, Larry Fitzgerald hinted that he may play for a team other than the Arizona Cardinals next season.

"No, I wouldn't say that I'm contemplating [retirement] right now," Fitzgerald said. "But I'm uncertain what I'm going to do moving forward. But I still love the game, I love the competition. I love being around the guys and competing for a championship. That's a lot of fun to me, and that's kind of where I’m at right now."

The question will be whether Fitzgerald believes the Cardinals, who have disappointed this season, can compete in 2017.

Steelers Plan On Using Franchise Tag On Le'Veon Bell

Dec 18, 2016 11:13 AM

The Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to use their franchise tag on Le'Veon Bell this offseason.

While the Steelers will attempt to sign Bell to a long-term deal, the tag will pay him $12.377 million for 2017 if no deal is reached.

Bell has been one of the NFL's most productive running backs throughout his career but he is also one strike away from a 10-game suspension.

A new deal for Bell could pay him as much as the six-year, $85.28 million deal Adrian Peterson signed in September of 2011.
