Titans, Johnson Continue To Discuss Deal

Jul 11, 2014 6:57 PM

The Titans and Pro Bowl running back Chris Johnson continue to discuss a long-term deal, according to sources. The sides remain in close contact and are working toward an agreement that would end Johnson's holdout in time for him to play in Week 1 of the season. They were at a stalemate after a face-to-face meeting last week, but continue conversations to the point where momentum toward a new deal could build considerably by the weekend.

Cowboys, Gurode To Discuss Center's Future

Nov 27, 2014 9:29 PM

Andre Gurode has made the Pro Bowl in each of the last five seasons, but the veteran center isn't guaranteed a spot on the final roster of the Cowboys. Dallas owner and general manager Jerry Jones said he would have a meeting with Gurode, who did not play Saturday night in Minnesota, and his agent, Kennard McGuire, on Sunday. "It's a cap issue," Jones said. "And he's healthy. This is the time to talk about it. He's had good competition there. There's alternatives for us there so we're going to sit down and talk about and see what we might work out. It's not one thing disciplinary." Gurode is scheduled to make $5.5 million this season and count $7.16 million against the cap. Should he be cut or traded, the Cowboys would save $5.5 million against the cap this year and have a $1.66 million charge in dead money in 2012. "I will like to keep the details of my conversations private that we had with Jerry and Stephen (Jones)," McGuire said. "There are a few things that both sides are discussing."

Peterson Unconcerned With Contract Situation

Aug 9, 2014 8:10 AM

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson isn't as concerned about his next contract as some of his peers. While Frank Gore, Chris Johnson and Matt Forte have all engaged in various forms of holdouts as they seek new deals, Peterson says he's "in the driver's seat" for his next contract. Peterson is entering the final year of his rookie deal and is scheduled to earn $10.7 million in base salary this season. "I'm pretty much in a good position right now, kinda in the driver's seat," Peterson told 105.3 FM 105.3 FM in Dallas. "So I just decided that this is my last year of my contract and I'll stay faithful to it. I'll just go out and focus on doing what I can do to help this team win a championship."

Baalke Wants To Make Gore A '49er For Life'

Jun 5, 2014 2:35 AM

Talks between the 49ers and running back Frank Gore haven't progressed as expected, but general manager Trent Baalke has expressed a desire to get a deal done. "The best thing we can say is we're doing everything we can to make Frank a 49er for life and whether that gets accomplished in the near future or not remains to be seen," Baalke told Pat Kirwan and Tim Ryan of SiriusXM NFL Radio. "But Frank's a 49er. He's a heck of a football player, he's a heck of a young man, and he's a leader. You can't say enough good things about Frank."
