Owner: IFL Team 'Close' To Deal With Owens

Jul 28, 2014 9:28 PM

Terrell Owens is close to agreeing to a mid-six-figure contract to play with the Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League in suburban Dallas. The deal would also include an ownership stake of "likely 50 percent" for Owens, Wranglers owner Jon Frankel said. "We're very close," general manager Drew Pearson said. "Jon Frankel, our owner, has been working on this for quite some time now. When he started, he felt there was maybe about a zero percent chance he could get it done, but through his persistent efforts and really wanting to make this happen, he has been able to make contact with their people. Now it's in a stage where he thinks it's at the point where it's about 70 percent done and close to being finalized, so we'll see how it shakes out from this point."

Stevie Johnson Expects Bills To Re-Sign Him

Oct 16, 2014 6:57 AM

With negotiations between the Bills and Stevie Johnson currently at a stand still, there is a chance that the wide receiver may play his final game with the team on Sunday. "Last week playing at the Ralph, I thought about it, walking around, walking off the field looking at the crowd, it seems kind of crazy that these four years went kind of fast," Johnson said. Johnson recently said he is seeking a contract that averages under $9 million per season, which would land him among the NFL's top paid wide receivers. Should the Bills choose to make him their franchise player, giving him a one-year extension in a sense, at a price tag of over $10 million for one year. "Being in the city and they've adopted me, and I've thought about it, I'm still pretty sure that I'll be here next year, but if not, it's pretty crazy," he said.

Roy Williams Hopes To Re-Sign With Bears

Jun 4, 2014 4:42 PM

Bears wide receiver Roy Williams thinks he's made enough plays in 2011 to warrant another year with the team. Asked about his possible future with the club, Williams said, "Who knows." "I feel like I made plays when the opportunity came," he added. "Of course, everybody's going to bring up the negatives, which is fine. But for the most part I made enough plays and I'll be happy to [re-]sign [with the Bears]. But if not, I'll continue on elsewhere." Williams currently ranks third on the team with 33 catches for 447 yards and a touchdown.

DeSean 'Definitely' Wants To Return To Eagles

Oct 16, 2014 6:38 AM

After the Eagles beat the Cowboys on Saturday afternoon, wide receiver DeSean Jackson talked about wanting to return to the team. "Our future is going to be bright," Jackson said at his locker. "This is really our first year playing together with the new additions, and it's a year under our belt, so next year we can come back and keep doing what we're doing." Next year is something Jackson hasn't talked about at all this year, especially in terms of spending it with the Eagles. Jackson has just one more game under his original rookie contract, which pays him the NFL fourth-year minimum wage of $600,000 this year. "Hopefully, I will be," he said of returning. "I consider Philadelphia a home, and the fans have embraced me and things like that. But it's out of my control. I don't know (what's going to happen). But I definitely want to (be back)."
