Jim Harbaugh Signs Extension With Michigan Through 2025

Jan 8, 2021 5:26 PM

Jim Harbaugh has signed a contract extension with Michigan through 2025.

Harbaugh had one year left on his initial contract at Michigan, which paid the coach slightly over $8 million in 2020.

"I continue to believe that Jim is the right man to lead our program in pursuit of Big Ten and CFP championships," athletic director Warde Manuel said in a statement. "Our program didn't achieve at a level that anyone expected this year but I know those setbacks will drive the coaches, players and staff moving forward. Jim is a tireless worker and competitor. Following the completion of the season we talked for many hours on what it will take for Jim to lead and get us back on the right trajectory."

Harbaugh is 49-22 in six seasons at the school and 34-16 in Big Ten play.

Texas Fires Tom Herman, Hire Steve Sarkisian As Replacement

Jan 3, 2021 8:32 AM

Texas has parted ways with Tom Herman as head coach after four seasons with Steve Sarkisian hired as his replacement.

Texas said in a statement that athletic director Chris Del Conte evaluated the program and recommended a change to university president Jay Hartzell. Herman went 32-18 at Texas and 7-3 this past season.

Sarkisian declined overtures from Auburn in its head-coaching search last month and turned down the Colorado head-coaching job last year.

Texas will owe Herman about $15 million to buy out the last three years of his contract.
