Jabrill Peppers Leaving Michigan For 2017 NFL Draft

Jan 10, 2017 3:13 PM

Jabrill Peppers is leaving Michigan to declare for the 2017 NFL Draft.

Peppers earned the reputation as one of the elite players in college football in 2016 after switching from defensive back to a hybrid safety/linebacker.

“It’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do,” Peppers said. “I’m choosing between cementing my legacy as a college player and starting my pro legacy. It’s something you dream of when you were a kid. I was torn between the two.”

Peppers informed Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh of his decision in a meeting in Harbaugh’s office on Monday.

“He thanked me and told me it was a pleasure to coach me,” Peppers said. “I told him it was a pleasure to play for him. He molded me for the next level, that’s how he operates. He runs his program like an NFL team. He’s done more than enough to prepare me for this moment.”

Jan 10, 2017 10:40 AM

Deshaun Watson led Clemson to a 35-31 win over Alabama to win the College Football Playoff title on Monday night at Raymond James Stadium.

Watson found Hunter Renfrow for a two-yard touchdown pass with one second remaining in the game to lift the Tigers to their first national title in 35 years. The quarterback finished 36-of-56 for 420 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran 46 yards and a score on 21 carries.

Alabama led 17-7 with more than seven minutes remaining in the third quarter when the Tigers began their comeback.

"No one panicked," Watson said of the late-game heroics. "I walked up to my offensive line, walked up to my wide receivers and I said 'Let's be legendary. Let's be great. God put us here for a reason.' It was just right."
