Carroll Recruited DeMarco Murray To USC As Defensive Back

Oct 31, 2014 11:27 PM

Pete Carroll recruited DeMarco Murray to play at USC as a defensive back.

Murray was coming out of high school as a star running back and decided instead to attend Oklahoma where he followed in the footsteps of Adrian Peterson.

"Pete probably could have made him an NFL corner because DeMarco is so long and athletic," recalled his high school coach, David White. "DeMarco was curious and interested about it, but he really wanted a shot at running back, and USC had three or four guys committed already. He just wanted a real chance to see if he could make it at the next level at running back."

Jameis Winston Dropping On Many NFL Draft Boards

Oct 17, 2014 1:47 AM

The off-field issues facing Jameis Winston has negatively impacted his draft stock, according to a report from Jay Glazer.

General managers are reportedly moving Winston down their draft boards, or off them entirely.

Additionally, due to possible rule changes involving sanctions against teams, franchises that employ players with off-field issues could have draft picks taken away, further diminishing the prospects for rookies-to-be like Winston.

Winston has already been cleared of criminal wrongdoing in an alleged rape case, but there were reports this week that Florida State officials and local police attempted to cover-up the issue.

Report: FSU, Police Hindered Investigation Of Jameis Winston

Oct 23, 2014 7:19 PM

Administrators of Florida State and Tallahassee police each took steps to hide and then hinder the criminal investigation of Jameis Winston last fall, according to an investigation by FOX Sports.

Winston was not charged with a crime in the case.

After learning in December 2013 that charges wouldn’t be filed, FOX Sports examined thousands of pages of documents. Among those findings, it was revealed that when Tallahassee police caught wind that a reporter was looking into the alleged rape, they turned reports in the case over to Florida State administrators. By November of 2013, nearly a year after a woman alleged that Winston raped her and nine months after Tallahassee police shelved the case, the Florida State administrators had those documents.
