Dez Bryant: NCAA 'Unfair' If Manziel Not Suspended

Oct 31, 2014 2:22 PM

Dez Bryant said he would be bothered if Johnny Manziel is not suspended by the NCAA for allegedly violating rules by being paid to sign autographs.

Bryant was suspended for the final 10 games of his college career while at Oklahoma State for lying to an NCAA investigator about a lunch with Deion Sanders that didn't actually violate rules.

"Hell, yeah, I'll be mad. I'll be mad," said Bryant. "But I don't want him to get suspended. I would be mad more at the NCAA for how they do things.

"I just feel like it's not fair. This is something I have no problem talking about because I feel like somebody needs to say something to them and let it be known how they treat people is not right."

Bryant said he feels like he "didn't get the same love" from the media as Manziel.

"I don't think my situation was as [bad] as his," Bryant said. "Johnny Manziel is a great football player. I really hope him the best. I hope he doesn't get suspended. I pray that he don't get suspended, because I love watching him. But as far as the NCAA, I just think they do a lot of stuff unfair."

No. 2 Ranked Pocket Passer In 2015 Commits To Alabama

Sep 30, 2014 4:56 PM

Alabama has received a commitment from Ricky Town, who is the No. 2 ranked pocket passer in the Class of 2015.

Town, who plays for St. Bonaventure out of Venture, chose Alabama over Texas, Georgia and Stanford.

"It's been a long time coming," said his father, Rick Town. "Texas, Georgia and Stanford made it tough on him, and he liked all of those schools. Alabama just had too many boxes checked. He really felt like it was a great fit for him."

Alabama already received a commitment from the No. 2 pocket passer in the class of 2014 in David Cornwell.

Town took an analytical approach on his decision by filling spreadsheets with data on his favorite schools' offenses and academics.

"This wasn't on a whim," his father Rick Town said. "It's been in the works for a while. Ricky doesn't like leading people on. He wanted the other teams to know what his intentions were early so they could do what they have to do."

Johnny Manziel is being investigated on whether he was paid for signing hundreds of autographs on photos and sports memorabilia in January.

Manziel allegedly agreed to sign memorabilia in exchange for a five-figure flat fee during his trip to Miami for the BCS National Championship.

If the NCAA investigation finds that Manziel has violated NCAA Bylaw 12.5.2.1 -- accepting money for promoting or advertising the commercial sale of a product or service -- he could be ruled ineligible.
