Jesse Bongiovi, son of Jon Bon Jovi, plans to walk on at Notre Dame this fall.

“He was friends with Charlie Weis, but it’s such a historic team and school that he was just fan here his whole life,” Bongiovi said.

Bongiovi was a standout in football and lacrosse at Poly Prep Country Day.

Bongiovi is 5-foot-11, 180 pounds and would like to play cornerback.

Nick Saban has hosted several NFL coaches this offseason as defenses learn how to best stop the zone-read offense.

The San Francisco 49ers, Washington Redskins and Seattle Seahawks all used elements of the zone-read last season.

Saban said the NFL is a pass rush-oriented league and that the zone-read sets up to exploit overpursuing defenses.

Saban also said that the 49ers have run the zone-read the best because of how they vary their looks so frequently.
