Leach Disappointed For Harrell, Crabtree

May 10, 2014 6:31 AM

Texas Tech coach Mike Leach felt as though former players Michael Crabtree and Graham Harrell deserved better in this past weekend's NFL Draft. Crabtree slipped to the tenth overall pick, while Harrell went undrafted. "The truth of the matter is that the NFL drafts quarterbacks notoriously bad," said Leach of Harrell's slip, according to the Dallas Morning News. "That's indisputable. ..." Leach also said that receiver Crabtree is far from a "diva."

Duke Offers Paulus Tryout As A Receiver

Sep 25, 2014 12:30 AM

Duke coach David Cutcliffe is willing to have former Blue Devils point guard Greg Paulus in for a workout as a wide receiver. Paulus, who worked out for the Packers last week and visited Michigan on Tuesday to explore the possibility of transferring there, won't be allowed to tryout as a quarterback in Durham, NC. "I hadn't even heard that about Michigan. I had heard he worked out for some pro team," Cutcliffe said. "It's difficult when you haven't been playing quarterback in a long time, to step back into a pro style offense and have any chance to play. If that's indeed the fact ... they've had quarterback issues and certainly that offense would be more friendly to a more athletic-type quarterback."

Paulus Could Play QB For Michigan In 2009

Feb 14, 2014 12:54 AM

According to sources close to the situation, Greg Paulus was in Ann Arbor on Tuesday meeting with Michigan football coach Rich Rodriguez about the possibility of playing this season for the Wolverines. Paulus, who was the Gatorade National Player of the Year as a standout quarterback at Christian Brothers Academy in New York, has one year of eligibility left for football after playing four years of basketball at Duke. He watched Michigan practice Tuesday afternoon and could fit in with Rodriguez's spread offense. The Wolverines don't have a clear-cut starting quarterback, and Paulus could come in and play immediately. Paulus also auditioned for the Green Bay Packers.

Missouri wide receiver Jeremy Maclin is fine with the fact that he wasn't invited to New York City for draft weekend by the NFL. "I didn't get invited," said Maclin, who is projected by many to be a top-10 pick in next weekend's draft. "I'm fine with it," he said. "I'm not tripping off that. I've seen as high as sixth and as low as 17. I've seen the Raiders quite a bit."

Hurricanes' First-Round Streak Nearing An End

Sep 25, 2014 12:34 AM

The Miami Hurricanes have seen one of their players drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft every year since 1995. The streak has lasted so long that Warren Sapp was drafted, had a Hall-of-Fame caliber career, and retired. "I said, 'Way to keep the streak going,' " Sapp said recently. "It's a common bond with someone who is 13 years removed from me." At least one Hurricane has been selected in the first round in 14 consecutive NFL drafts, but that streak is likely to end this month. "My streak ends," Sapp said. "It's something we took immense pride in."

"The biggest thing is trying to figure out how this started," Raji told The Press Democrat. The last couple days, I was just trying to figure out: Who? What? Basically, why?"
