Bobby Bowden?s coaching career at Florida State University is expected to end Tuesday, the Tallahassee Democrat has learned.
Bowden is expected to announce his resignation by way of a statement to be released Tuesday.
As part of his retirement, Bowden is expected to be offered a non-coaching position at FSU for an unspecified amount of time. In addition to any settlement compensation that may be negotiated as part of his retirement, Bowden is also entitled to $1 million upon his retirement as part of an existing clause in his coaching contract.

Notre Dame announced the firing of Charlie Weis, its head football coach, on Monday.
?We have great expectations for our football program, and we have not been able to meet those expectations,? Notre Dame?s athletic director, Jack Swarbrick, said in a news release. ?As an alumnus, Charlie understands those goals and expectations better than most, and he?s as disappointed as anyone that we have not achieved the desired results.?
Weis had six years remaining on his contract and could be owed as much as $18 million.

Bowden Wants To Coach FSU In 2010
Florida State coach Bobby Bowden wants to return and coach the team in 2010.
On Saturday, he said he needed to do some "soul searching" before deciding his immediate future.
Bowden, 80, said he hoped to meet with FSU President TK Wetherell sometime this week to discuss his future.
McKnight Leaning Towards Staying, Wants Heisman
Joe McKnight said Thursday that he was leaning toward returning to USC for his senior season.
"I feel like right now is not the right time to drop everything and leave," said McKnight, a junior. "I feel like I'm not ready for it.
"So I just need one more year to get everything straight and get in line."
With rumblings that 2011 rookie signing bonuses could be affected by NFL labor negotiations, an increased number of juniors and third-year sophomores throughout college football are expected to consider making themselves available for the 2010 draft.
McKnight said, "I want that Heisman Trophy, that's one of the reasons I'm coming back."
Petersen Could Leave Boise State For Virginia Job
Boise State coach Chris Petersen is the leading candidate to become Virginia?s next head football coach.
Petersen, 45, is considered one of the top young coaches in the country, having led Boise State to a 46-4 record in four seasons. His current Broncos? team is 11-0 and hoping to earn a BCS bid at the end of the season.
While some college football observers commented earlier this year that Petersen was ?ungettable,? things have obviously changed.
The Boise State coach has reportedly been frustrated the past couple of years with the salaries of his assistant coaches and has unsuccessfully campaigned his athletic director and the Western Athletic Conference office to improve those wages.
?If Chris Petersen were to leave Boise State, that would be one of, if not the major reason for his exit,? said one source in Boise on Wednesday.
Jimmy Johnson: Tebow Can't Run Pro-Style Offense
NFL analyst Jimmy Johnson doesn't think Florida quarterback Tim Tebow has a bright future in the professional game.
"I don't think Tim Tebow can play in the NFL if it's in a pro style offense," Johnson told Sports Illustrated's Dan Patrick.
Johnson thinks that an NFL team will try to convert Tebow into an H-back or receiver. If they want him as a quarterback, the former Cowboys coach says that the team will likely have to change their offense and staff.
Clausen In Fight Outside South Bend Bar
Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen was involved in a fight outside a South Bend bar early Sunday morning, according to a report Monday evening by WGN-AM's David Kaplan.
According to Kaplan, Clausen has two black eyes from the altercation at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. The incident comes on the heels of the Irish's overtime loss to Connecticut, their fifth of the season, leaving Notre Dame at 6-5.
The Tribune's Brian Hamilton reports that a South Bend police spokesman said Monday no police reports were filed over the weekend that involved Clausen. The particulars of the confrontation are thus unclear, though a person answering the phone at CJ's, the bar in question, said the incident "absolutely did not take place inside the bar."
Stanford Misses 2-Point Conversion, Still Beats USC 55-21
Toby Gerhart rushed for 178 yards and three touchdowns, and Stanford emphatically followed up its 2007 upset at the Coliseum while essentially ending USC's reign atop the Pac-10 with a 55-21 win Saturday, according to an Associated Press report.
RealGM Note: Rival coaches Pete Carroll and Jim Harbaugh appeared to exchange some words after the game about Stanford's failed attempt at a two-point conversion after going ahead 48-21 midway through the fourth quarter.
Top 103 NFL Draft Prospects Of 2010, Version 1.0
I?ve included underclassmen in this list without regard for any inkling of declaration status. This list is very fluid and will likely change quite a bit between now and the end of bowl season.
Note that this does not necessarily indicate prediction of draft slot. Additional weight is given to more critical positions, i.e. the #4 QB is rated ahead of the #1 G, even though the guard will grade out higher. It?s subjectively arbitrary, but so is the draft...
Thru the games of Nov. 7th.
1. Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska. His quickness and versatility stand out.
2. Eric Berry, S, Tennessee. Great instinctive playmaker, only question is his size.

4. Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma State. His suspension doesn?t necessarily hurt him.
5. Jake Locker, QB, Washington. Scouts love the adversity he?s overcome.
6. Rolando McClain, LB, Alabama. The next great rookie ILB, shades of Patrick Willis.
7. Russell Okung, T, Oklahoma State. Showing more consistency and ferocity.
