Patriots 'Looking Into Some Things' On Antonio Brown

Sep 20, 2019 4:49 PM

Bill Belichick stopped his news conference short after fielding several questions on the topic of Antonio Brown's off-the-field issues.

"I know there are questions about Antonio. We take all the situations with our team very seriously," Belichick said at the end of an opening statement that began with his thoughts on Sunday's opponent, the New York Jets. "There are some things that we're looking into, but I'm not going to have any comment on any of the off-the-field situations or questions on that. Anything on football, I'm happy to answer."

Belichick was then asked how he balances off-field issues with Brown.

"When we work on football, we work on football," Belichick said.

NFL Could Place Antonio Brown On Commissioner's Exempt List

Sep 12, 2019 11:09 AM

Antonio Brown could be sidelined for multiple games while the NFL investigates accusations of sexual assault stemming from a civil lawsuit that was filed in a Florida court this week.

The league could place Brown on the commissioner's exempt list. If that were to happen, the New England Patriots wide receiver would be ineligible to play for every week that he's on the list, although he would still receive a paycheck.

Brown signed a one-year, $15 million deal with the Patriots on Monday.

Antonio Brown Sued For Sexual Assault By Former Trainer

Sep 11, 2019 11:20 AM

Antonio Brown is being sued by a woman who claims he sexually assaulted and raped her during three separate encounters.

The woman identifies herself as Britney Taylor and says she was hired by Brown as a personal trainer.

Taylor claims the first incident happened in June 2017 during a training session when "Brown exposed himself and kissed [her] without her consent."

Taylor then describes a second alleged incident ... "Later that month, Brown, while positioned behind her, began masturbating near her without her knowledge and ejaculated on her back."

Taylor claims Brown begged her to continue training him and eventually agreed after initial hesitation.

The woman claims nearly a year later "Brown cornered [her] forced her down onto a bed, pushed her face into the mattress, and forcibly raped her."

Taylor met Brown while they were both students at Central Michigan.

Brown's legal representation released the following statement:

"Mr. Brown denies each and every allegation in the lawsuit. He will pursue all legal remedies to not only clear his name, but to also protect other professional athletes against false accusations. Mr. Brown was approached by his accuser in 2017, shortly after Mr. Brown signed a contract making him the highest paid wide receiver in the NFL. At that time, Mr. Brown was asked to invest $1.6 million dollars in the accuser’s business project. Mr. Brown was not informed by his accuser that she had just been levied with a $30,000 IRS tax lien or that $300,000 of the $1.6 million so called “investment” was to be used to purchase property already owned by the accuser and her mother. When Mr. Brown refused to make the $1.6 million “investment,” the accuser supposedly cut off communications with Mr. Brown. However, in 2018, the accuser resurfaced and offered to travel to Pennsylvania and South Florida to train Mr. Brown for the upcoming season."

Brown was released by the Oakland Raiders last week and subsequently signed with the New England Patriots.

Odell Beckham Jr. Plans To Keep Wearing $190k Watch In Games

Sep 10, 2019 1:42 PM

Odell Beckham Jr. plans to continue wearing his Richard Mille watch during games despite objections from the NFL.

“I’m here to play football,’’ Beckham said Tuesday. “I would love for them to talk about football and what I do on the field, if I messed up on the field or if I didn’t do well on the field, talk about my performance. Don’t talk about any extracurricular, that’s just it. If anybody else would’ve worn the watch, or if it was a $20 watch, it wouldn’t have been no problem.’’

The watch retails for approximately $190,000.

Beckham tweeted on Monday night, “If it ain’t one thing…it’s another.’’

He said the tweet was in response to the watch flap.

“Yeah, that’s just my life,’’ he said. “If I ain’t this, it’s something else. If it wasn’t the watch, it would’ve been the way that I tie my shoes.’’

Beckham was asked if he'll still wear it during the game.

“The same way I wear it every day, at practice, I go here, I go there. I’ve been wearing it. Take a shower with it on. It’s just on me."
