Dak Prescott: Season Will 'Be Very, Very Special' For Cowboys

Jun 30, 2021 8:20 AM

Dak Prescott is expecting a much better season for the Dallas Cowboys in 2021.

The Cowboys were 1-3 when Prescott suffered a season-ending injury in Week 5 of last season.

"Improvement, a lot of improvement, obviously from last year to this year, but deeper than that from those first five games," Prescott said.

"Take those first five games and just say we're going to be better than that as a team. We're going to play more complementary football from defense to offense to special teams, and then we're going to have a healthy team. We've all approached the offseason. We approached the season the right way. We're just excited. We're excited that hopefully, we can stay healthy, we can get good fortune on that end. And we can just put everything we've worked hard for together on all stages and all phases of the game. We're excited for this year. It's going to be very, very special for us and for Cowboys fans."

Patriots Feared Tom Brady Would Sign With Dolphins

Jun 30, 2021 8:17 AM

The New England Patriots "had very real concerns" early last offseason that Tom Brady would sign with the Miami Dolphins in free agency, according to a report.

The report cites Brady's relationship with Dolphins minority owner Bruce Beal as one of the main causes for concern for the Patriots.

Obviously, the concerns were unfounded as Brady signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and won a Super Bowl.

All NFL Stadiums At Full Capacity As Colts Get Approved

Jun 30, 2021 2:40 PM

The Indianapolis Colts have received approval to host full capacity crowds at their home games this season, becoming the final NFL team to receive that approval from local government.

The NFL said in May that all but two teams -- the Denver Broncos and the Colts -- had received approval from state and local governments to open their stadiums at full capacity when games resume.

The Broncos announced earlier this month that they had been approved for full capacity for games at Empower Field at Mile High.

NFL Cancels Supplemental Draft Again

Jun 30, 2021 8:07 AM

The NFL will not hold a supplemental draft for the second straight year, a source has confirmed.

The supplemental draft is available for players whose eligibility situations changed after the January declaration deadline for the regular draft.

The Arizona Cardinals made the only pick in 2019, the last year the supplemental draft was held, when they selected safety Jalen Thompson in the fifth round.

Under the collective bargaining agreement, the NFL has the right to decide whether to hold the supplemental draft each year.

Derek Carr To Put On 'Full-Court Press' For Davante Adams In 2022

Jun 29, 2021 9:41 AM

Davante Adams won't be a free agent until next year, but Derek Carr is already preparing to recruit the wide receiver to the Las Vegas Raiders.

Adams and Carr were teammates at Fresno State.

"I've learned in this business, you never shut the door on anything," Carr said. "I know that he's obviously the best receiver -- everyone said one of the best, he's the best receiver in the NFL. The guy is unbelievable. He's been one of my best friends since we were in college together. I love the guy.

... "I would always welcome to play with him again. I think it would unlock some things in both of us that people haven't seen yet. I'm always open to that and I will be recruiting very hard. When that time comes, it will be a full-court press."

Carson Wentz To Trey Lance: Don't Let Pressure Change You

Jun 29, 2021 9:37 AM

San Francisco 49ers rookie quarterback Trey Lance recently got some advice from the only other North Dakota State player in history to be selected with one of the top three picks in the NFL Draft.

Lance was in Fargo for a charity softball game hosted by Carson Wentz.

His advice to Lance about dealing with the expectations that come with a team trading up to take you third overall was to block out the noise.

"There are going to be a million things pulling you in one direction, then the other direction, pressure, expectations, all these things," Wentz said. "But I know Trey. He's got a great head on his shoulders. He's young, age-wise, but he's very mature. I know he's going to be just fine. He's in a great situation. They have a great culture there in San Fran, a good coaching staff. So I know he's going to do a great job, and I'm excited for him. I just keep telling him to be himself: 'Don't let any of those things change who you are, change your values, change your perspective on football. Just go play.'"
