Packers Not Giving Up On Season Despite Pair Of Trades

Oct 31, 2018 7:07 PM

While the Green Bay Packers traded away a pair of players without getting an immediate return, general manager Brian Gutekunst says they're not giving up on the season.

Green Bay traded Ha Ha Clinton-Dix to Washington for a 2019 fourth-round pick and running back/kick returner Ty Montgomery to Baltimore for a conditional 2020 seventh-rounder.

"I don't necessarily think there's a message it sends to the locker room," the first-year GM said Wednesday. "I think the decisions that we make are always in the best interest of our team, not only in the short term, but the long term, as well. But I think our locker room knows where we're headed and, like I said, I think we're humming at the right time and I think there's a lot of positive things going forward."

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed Landry Jones.

Blake Bortles suffered an injury to his non-throwing shoulder, but is expected to play in Week 10.

Jones, whom the Jaguars recently had in for a workout, spent the past five seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Jones went 3-2 as a starter in place of Ben Roethlisberger. The Steelers cut Jones on Sept. 1, opting to keep Joshua Dobbs as Roethlisberger's backup.

Bill Belichick Concerned By Patriots' Running Back Situation

Oct 31, 2018 1:46 PM

Bill Belichick is concerned about the running back position in New England.

The Patriots' leading rusher in Monday night's win over the Buffalo Bills was wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson.

In a 19-point win, the Patriots ran the ball 25 times for 75 yards.

"We just got back a few hours ago, so we'll kind or recalibrate here and see where we're at relative to who's available and how we want to structure our game plan and what we want to do there," Belichick told WEEI. "That's one of the things we're going through (Tuesday). But it's a consideration, and I'd say it's a concern."

James White has taken a majority of the snaps with Sony Michel out with a knee injury.

Packers Send Ty Montgomery To Ravens For 2020 Pick

Oct 30, 2018 4:12 PM

The Baltimore Ravens have acquired Ty Montgomery from the Green Bay Packers for a seventh-round draft pick in 2020, according to a source.

The deal comes two days after Montgomery made a special teams error, running a fourth-quarter kickoff out of the end zone and making a costly fumble in a 29-27 loss at the Los Angeles Rams.

The Ravens' running game has lacked any explosiveness this season with Alex Collins (3.7-yard per carry) and Buck Allen (2.6).
