Sam Darnold Signs Rookie Deal With Jets, Gets Bonus As Lump Sum

Jul 30, 2018 10:49 PM

Sam Darnold signed his rookie deal with the New York Jets on Monday.

Darnold was slotted to a four-year, $30.2 million deal.

The deal includes offset language, which the Jets wanted but that hadn't been part of the negotiations in recent weeks. The Jets agreed to change their position on default language regarding the guaranteed money, which had been a major sticking point.

Darnold also becomes the first top-five pick to get his bonus at signing as a lump sum.

Carson Wentz 'Feels Good' After First Practice Since Tearing ACL

Jul 30, 2018 11:03 AM

Carson Wentz practiced with pads on for the first time on Saturday since he tore ligaments in his left knee.

Wentz was on the field for nearly three hours.

Went'z initial recovery time was expected to be nine-to-12 months.

“I feel good,” he said. “I feel good. What my goal has been all along is to be ready Week 1. I can’t say 100 percent that I’ll be out there. But I do feel good where I’m at. At the end of the day, it’s not gonna be my call. It’s gonna be up to the doctors. But rehab’s gone really well. I felt like I’ve been right on schedule and everything. I feel good with where I’m at. At this point I just go practice and do what I can and let the doctors make the calls.”

NFL Tells Jerry Jones To Stop Discussing Anthem Policy With Media

Jul 30, 2018 9:38 AM

The NFL has told Jerry Jones to stop discussing the national anthem policy with the media.

Jones’ sudden adherence to league policy comes less than a week after he separated himself from NFL with his pronouncement of a team-mandated anthem policy of standing to attention with toes on the line or face the prospect of getting cut.

Players across the league have decried the comments while openly questioning how the NFL and NFLPA can have a meaningful negotiation with Jones already deciding on his team’s policy.

Andrew Luck Hasn't Suffered Any Setbacks

Jul 29, 2018 9:06 PM

Andrew Luck practiced fully during the first two days of training camp before being limited to just handing the ball off and doing moving-in-the-pocket drills without throwing Saturday as part of a rest day with his arm that was preplanned heading into training camp. The Colts are keeping a close eye on Luck throughout the entire process.

Luck hasn't experienced any pain, which is a significant sign.

"Jitters like before a game for that first practice. Haven't felt that way in a long time," Luck said about his first training camp since 2016. "Responding well. Name of the game for me is to improve every day. Feeling-wise. Technique-wise."

Brady Says It Is 'Ridiculous' To Link Edelman Suspension With Guerrero

Jul 29, 2018 8:37 PM

Tom Brady was asked whether he has a reaction to those who have linked his personal trainer, Alex Guerrero, to Julian Edelman's four-game suspension for performance enhancing drugs.

"I have no comment. It is just ridiculous," Brady said when asked if he felt such a connection was fair because Edelman, in addition to others, trains with Guerrero. "I'm out. See you guys."

Guerrero is also Brady's close friend and business partner.

When asked his thoughts on Patriots turmoil, Brady said, "I have no thoughts."

Rams To Wear Yellow-And-Blue Uniforms For Five Games

Jul 27, 2018 9:46 PM

The Los Angeles Rams will wear yellow-and-blue uniforms in five games.

The Rams have resisted unveiling their new uniforms until they open their new stadium in 2020, but the NFL has softened their rules on wearing throwbacks.

The Rams will wear their throwbacks at home for five regular-season games, against the Vikings, Packers, Seahawks, Eagles, and 49ers.

“Since returning home to Los Angeles two years ago, we have received a lot of feedback from our fans about their love for these iconic uniforms,” Rams COO Kevin Demoff said.  “We appreciate the NFL working with us so we can celebrate even more of the history of Los Angeles Rams football over the next two years as we create our new look that will take us into our new home and the future.”
