Browns' Trade For A.J. McCarron Rejected By NFL Due To Late Submission

Oct 31, 2017 7:00 PM

The NFL rejected a submitted trade of A.J. McCarron from the Cincinnati Bengals to the Cleveland Browns.

The Bengals notified the league of the proposed trade at 3:55 p.m. ET, and the Browns notified the league shortly after 4 p.m. ET. Because the Browns were late, the league denied the trade.

The Browns protested the NFL's decision but it was rejected.

The proposed compensation for McCarron would have been a second- and third-round pick in 2018.

The Bengals also tried to trade McCarron in the offseason.

Russell Wilson Renegotiates Contract For Duane Brown Trade

Oct 31, 2017 11:48 AM

Russell Wilson renegotiated his contract to allow the Seattle Seahawks to trade for Duane Brown.

Wilson converted $6.26 million of his salary to a bonus and prorated it over the remaining three years to create $4.1 million in room. Wilson was immediately paid $6.26 million instead of receiving it over the rest of the season.

Brown gives Wilson his best left tackle in several seasons.

Bill Belichick Thought He Could Win Super Bowl With Jimmy Garoppolo

Oct 31, 2017 10:37 AM

While Tom Brady wants to continue playing until he's 45, the timeline of how much longer Bill Belichick will remain head coach of the New England Patriots is less certain.

Belichick's friends give him two or three more years, which would be long enough to ensure his two sons, Stephen and Brian, are secure in their jobs as Patriots' assistants.

Belichick even told friends for the past year that he wanted to coach Garoppolo as a starter and he was confident he could win a Super Bowl with him.

The Patriots traded Garoppolo to the 49ers before the deadline, which was a move that surprised people close to Belichick, Tom Brady and Garoppolo.

Jimmy Garoppolo Not Expected To Start In Week 9

Oct 31, 2017 8:18 AM

The San Francisco 49ers are expected to give Jimmy Garoppolo some time before they make him their starting quarterback.

The 49ers acquired Garoppolo from the New England Patriots on Monday for a second-round draft pick.

San Francisco is 0-8 and will face the Arizona Cardinals this week. They have a bye in Week 11, which could mean we won't see Garoppolo behind center until Week 12 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Broncos Won't Commit To Trevor Siemian Going Forward

Oct 31, 2017 8:14 AM

The Denver Broncos won't commit to Trevor Siemian at quarterback after their third-straight turnover-filled loss.

After Denver's 29-19 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night, Vance Joseph was asked if he would consider making a change at quarterback.

"I'm going to watch the film [Monday] night and [Tuesday], like most coaches would do, and see," Joseph said. "[Monday] our defense played winning football in my opinion, our offensive line blocked, we ran the ball for 177 [yards] and the pass pro was better. It all fell back to turning the ball over five times, that's insane."

According to a source, if the Broncos do make a change it will likely be to former first-round pick Paxton Lynch.

Ezekiel Elliott Loses Attempt At Injunction

Oct 30, 2017 11:38 PM

Ezekiel Elliott lost an attempt to block his six-game suspension Monday when U.S. District Judge Katherine Polk Failla denied a request for a preliminary injunction after hearing arguments from the NFL and NFLPA.

With the ruling in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, Elliott's six-game suspension would again be in effect and he would be ineligible to play until the Cowboys' game against the Oakland Raiders on Dec. 17.

In her ruling, Judge Failla said "the NFLPA has failed to demonstrate a substantial question warranting the extraordinary remedy of injunctive relief or a balance of hardships that decidedly weighs in its favor."

Elliott received the six-game suspension on Aug. 11 for violating the league's personal conduct policy relating to domestic violence allegations by a former girlfriend. He was never charged with any crime by authorities who investigated the allegations.
