Jets Will Release Darrelle Revis

Mar 1, 2017 8:52 AM

The New York Jets will release Darrelle Revis on March 9th.

Revis was scheduled to count $15.3 million against the 2017 salary cap. The announcement came 11 days after Revis was charged with four felonies, including aggravated assault.

Revis' legal issues didn't factor into the team's decision to release him, a source said, adding that it was "100 percent football related."

The Jets made the decision internally three weeks ago to release Revis.

Washington has placed the exclusive franchise tag on Kirk Cousins.

Cousins also played last season under the franchise tag.

Cousins will make $23.94 million under the tag if he and Washington are unable to agree upon a long-term deal.

Chiefs Working To Make Eric Berry Highest-Paid Safety

Feb 28, 2017 1:38 PM

The Kansas City Chiefs are negotiating with Eric Berry to make him the highest-paid safety in the NFL, according to a report.

The deal could be reached before Wednesday's deadline to franchise tag players.

Berry was hit with the franchise tag last season and said that he didn't want to play under the designation again in 2017.

"I'm going to keep being patient because you never know," Berry told the Kansas City Star on Sunday. "Last year I thought one thing and it didn't happen. So I'm not getting my hopes up; I'm looking at it logically."

Kirk Cousins Would Only Accept Trade To 49ers

Feb 28, 2017 11:28 AM

If Washington decides to trade Kirk Cousins, he would only accept a move to the San Francisco 49ers.

Wednesday is the deadline for the Redskins to decide whether to place their franchise tag on the quarterback.

Former Washington offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan is the new head coach of the 49ers.

Cousins can't outright block a trade to any team, but given the fact that he isn't signed long-term he could keep a club from acquiring by refusing to commit long-term.
