Lattimore Unlikely To Participate In 49ers' Camp

Sep 25, 2014 11:19 AM

Marcus Lattimore will be patient as he recovers from two major knee procedures.

Lattimore is unlikely to participate in the San Francisco 49ers' training camp in July.

"You know, we come back in late July. Been running sprints, you know, got a chance to get in there with the guys a little bit, that felt good. Probably won't do training camp. You know, just on course with the trainer and my doctor. Get a chance to practice midseason and see what happens."

Rice Impressed By How New Ravens 'Jelled' At Minicamp

Oct 7, 2014 1:09 PM

Ray Rice is not concerned with the transition the Baltimore Ravens have undergone during the offseason. The Ravens had a strong minicamp.

"When you lose that many people and lose guys that you've grown personal relationships with, it's hard on players, it's hard on coaches and it's hard on the organization," Rice said on ESPN's "NFL Live." "So what you do is try to rebuild. What we did was we brought in some veterans and we drafted some rookies. One feeling leaving minicamp was that our team jelled."

Former Jets' Backup: Sanchez Dumb While Being Dumb Off Field

Oct 28, 2014 2:32 PM

Mark Sanchez's former backup, Erik Ainge, claims to have saved him from numerous gaffes that would have become Internet and tabloid fodder.

"There were numerous times when things would happen, when things would go down, articles of clothing would be removed," Ainge said. "Mark is goofy. He played truth or dare. He was kind of awkward around girls, so he needed other people around him to help him out. I was good at that -- there were other guys who were good with that. So we'd help him out and talk him through his awkwardness. It happened to him with the 17-year-old who said she wasn't 17. Now the butt video and there's been several other issues just like that, but he's always had wingmen."

Ainge believes people often take advantage of Sanchez.

"He's been a target in college and now he's a target in the NFL," said Ainge, who now hosts a radio show in Tennessee. "Now it's become a thing to try and catch Mark doing something stupid. He's never breaking the law. Look at Aaron Hernandez. Mark Sanchez is child's play in the NFL, as far as off-the-field stuff. I'd know as good as anybody -- what Mark does off the field is child's play. He'€™s dumb about it. He's stupid while being stupid. You have to be smart while being stupid, and he's dumb while being dumb. Look at the butt video. He needs someone he trusts there when Mark wants to go streaking through his own condo."

Ainge has battled drug addiction and mental illness in his own life.

Brees: Saints Have Had First Normal Offseason Since 2009

Oct 7, 2014 1:11 PM

Drew Brees described the offseason of the New Orleans Saints as the first normal one since 2009.

"It's all about football, and that's the way we like it," he said. "This is really the first normal offseason we've had in four years. Going from that offseason after Super Bowl, which was a crazy offseason, and right into the lockout the next offseason, and last year with the bounty and the contract and with everything else.

"Really, this is the first normal offseason we've had since '09, and that ended up being a pretty good year for us, so hopefully there's some foresight in there."

Peterson Ranked No. 1 In NFL's Top 100, Rodgers Drops To No. 6

Oct 7, 2014 1:11 PM

Adrian Peterson has been voted as the No. 1 player on the NFL Network's list of the Top 100 Players for 2013.

Peyton Manning, Calvin Johnson, Tom Brady and J.J. Watt rounded out the top-five.

"I had a good feeling without being cocky that I would be No. 1," Peterson said on the "Top 100" after show. "I kind of made that assumption with the MVP. I was like, 'Well, I don't see how I wouldn't be No. 1 knowing that I won MVP,' so I kind of put myself there."

Aaron Rodgers, widely considered the most valuable single commodity in the NFL, dropped from No. 1 to No. 6.

Hernandez Being Investigated For Double Homicide In July 2012

Oct 31, 2014 5:07 AM

Aaron Hernandez is being investigated as a possible suspect in a double murder that took place in downtown Boston in July of 2012.

FOX 25 says that “officers responded to the intersection of Shawmut Avenue and Herald Street just after 2 a.m. When they arrived, they found three people had been shot, two fatally, as they sat in a car at a traffic light.”

The men, Safiro Furtado and Daniel Abreu, were reportedly seated in the front seat of the vehicle when a witness says that a “gray or silver SUV with Rhode Island plates opened fire on it. The surviving victim was in the back seat” and two in the SUV fled the scene.

According to a FOX 25 source, the men worked at a cleaning company in Dorchester and had just left a bar in the area.
