Zygi Wilf didn't think that the Vikings were going to trade Randy Moss when he was negotiating to buy the team. "When we were negotiating to buy the team, I had an understanding that [former Vikings owner] Red McCombs wouldn't trade anybody, especially Moss," Wilf told the Star Tribune. "But he did trade him."

Michael Irvin believes that a quarterback controversy is on the horizon in Philadelphia. "I'm not sure you're going to have to wait that long," Irvin told USA Today of the Eagles having an issues with Donovan McNabb and Michael Vick.

The Broncos could be in trouble if Kyle Orton's finger injury keep him out of their season opener. Chris Simms, the team's backup, may not be ready to play in the opener because of a high-ankle sprain, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Steelers have finalized a four-year contract extension with defensive tackle Brett Keisel. The deal will keep him with the team through the 2013 season, and the financial terms were unavailable on Monday afternoon. Keisel has started 42 games over the past three seasons in Pittsburgh. He was entering the final year of his contract and was scheduled to earn $3.25 million.

Brett Favre said before Monday's preseason game that he believes he has a cracked rib. The Vikings quarterback hasn't received an official diagnosis, but has had difficulty with deep breathing. Favre wasn't listed on Minnesota's injury report.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady expects to play this week if coach Bill Belichick allows him to. Brady took a big hit from Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth on Friday night and reportedly left with a sore shoulder. "I have bumps and bruises," Brady said on WEEI in Boston. "It's a physical game. Like I said, I fell a little bit awkwardly, but I'm expecting to be out there and I'm expecting to play this week, if Coach let's me. We'll just see how the week goes." New England will face the Giants on Thursday in their preseason finale.

The Chargers added experienced depth to their defensive line on Monday when they acquired defensive lineman Travis Johnson from the Texans in exchange for an undisclosed 2010 draft choice. San Diego also signed LSU wide receiver Demetrius Byrd, the team's seventh-round choice this year, to a four-year contract. He continues to make progress in his recovery from an automobile accident suffered prior to the draft. In addition, the team waived wide receiver Greg Carr, tackle Dan Gay and wide receiver Rodgeriqus Smith. All three players joined the Chargers as undrafted free agents in May.

The Chiefs have fired Chan Gailey as offensive coordinator, according to an Associated Press report. The Chiefs said head coach Todd Haley would address Gailey?s status with the team after Monday?s practice.

Tedy Bruschi retired Monday after a 13-year NFL career in which he won three Super Bowl titles with the Patriots, as reported by the Associated Press. ?I?m 36 years old,? Bruschi said at a news conference. ?Your body doesn?t heal as quickly.?

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin hinted on Sunday that the team didn't chase Michael Vick hard because of Ben Roethlisberger's legal issues. "Given some of the things that my quarterback was going through, I didn't think it was the appropriate time to add another quarterback to the mix," Tomlin told NBC's Bob Costas. "He's going through somewhat of a trying time with the civil allegation, a case against him. I didn't want to do anything that was less than supportive to Ben."
