Online sportsbooks will offer dozens of exciting NFL prop bets on every game of the season. You can speculate on the number of passing yards a QB will manage, the highest scoring quarter, the first player to score a touchdown and much more.

Week 7 arrives with a lot of big spreads on the board, in fact 8 of the 13 games this weekend have a team favored by at least 6 points and according to the NFL odds there may not be many points throughout the weekend with just 1 game lined above 50 points (Seahawks at Chargers).

NFL Prop Bets

If you’re looking to take advantage of touchdown scorers in the NFL prop bets you generally want to target a favorite in a predicted high-scoring game. That's not an easy task in Week 7. Here's a look at our 5 best NFL prop bets of the weekend.

Browns @ Ravens: Nick Chubb o77.5 rushing yards (-115)

Chubb is the best running back in the league right now and with Jacoby Brissett starting to make some mistakes throwing the ball we expect the Browns to go even more run heavy than they previously had. Up until Cleveland's collapse against the Patriots last week, Chubb had 17+ carries per game and at least 87 yards rushing in each, and we expect him to bounce back and top his yards total again this week at -115 at BetMGM.

Packers @ Commanders: Taylor Heinicke anytime TD scorer (+575)

Two of the more disappointing teams in the league face each other this weekend in Washington. The Packers' vaunted defense hasn’t been able to cover for their terrible offense thus far, and while there were special team scores by the Jets last week, the Packers allowed a lot of offense from them as well. With Carson Wentz out following surgery for a fractured finger, the Commanders will look for a spark from Heinicke, who rushed for 95 yards almost a year to the day ago against the Packers. We love getting near 6/1 for him to score here at +575 at Caesars Sportsbook.

Chiefs @ 49ers: Travis Kelce anytime TD (-110)

The 49ers have one of the best defenses in the game when healthy. Trouble is, they are far from healthy with backups and third stringers filling in for the likes of CB Charvarius Ward (groin), DE Nick Bosa (groin) DT Javon Kinlaw (knee), Jason Berrett (knee), DT Arik Armstead (feet) and others. Kelce is Option 1 for the Chiefs in the red zone, where he leads the league in targets, receptions and TDs. Getting around even money for him at to score again at -110 at FanDuel is great value.

Lions @ Cowboys: Lions u20.5 points (-115)

The come off their bye week hoping the anticipated returns of D’Andre Swift (shoulder/ankle) and Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) can bolster an offense that fell on its face in a 29-0 loss to the Patriots in Week 5. The Dallas defense had not allowed a team to reach 20 points until last week, when the Eagles hit that number in the second quarter alone. The Cowboys lead the league in sacks and Lions quarterback Jared Goff struggles when players in his face, so we think the total will be lower than the 49 that was set, and the Lions will be mostly to blame. We'll jump on the Lions under 20.5 points at -115 at PointsBet.

Falcons @ Bengals: 2nd half u23.5 points (-105)

We went for a similar prop last week for a plus money winner in taking the Saints to not score a TD in the second half against Cincinnati, and that’s an angle we’ll continue to attack this week. The Bengals, stunningly, have yet to allow a touchdown in the second half of any game this season and even though the Falcons have been better than expected with Marcus Mariota under center, but we think they’ll be limited to field goals at best in the second half. The Bengals may score a couple of times, but we like the under on second half points at -105 at DraftKings.

Important Football Props Bet Terms

The world of NFL prop bets is riddled with jargon. You may hear certain terms discussed by handicappers and bettors and wonder what they mean. These are some common NFL player props that may initially sound confusing:

Alt Rushing Yards Meaning

You can bet over/under on the number of rushing yards a running back or a quarterback will manage over the course of a game. There will be a standard rushing yards line – for example, you could find odds of -112 on under 83.5 rushing yards for Derrick Henry and -112 on him managing over 83.5 rushing yards.

You will then find alternative lines, which change the odds. For example, you could potentially bet on Henry to produce over 93.5 rushing yards at +110, which would earn you a larger payout if you were confident in his ability to smash the standard target.

Alt Passing Yards Meaning

This is a similar concept. You will find a standard total passing yards line on each quarterback – for example, -115 on Tom Brady to throw for over 290.5 yards and -115 on him throwing for under 290.5 yards. You will then find alternate lines – such as over 280.5 at odds of -125 or under 280.5 yards at odds of -105 – which give you more flexibility.

Alt Receiving Yards Meaning

This would be an alternative to the standard receiving yards prop betting line available on a receiver. For example, you could bet on Tyreek Hill to manage over 76.5 receiving yards at standard odds of -114, or you could alternatively bet on him going over a higher target in exchange for a larger potential profit.

Anytime TD Prop Bets NFL

This is one of the most popular NFL player prop bets. You simply need to select a player that will score a touchdown at any time in the game, with elite wide receivers normally among the favorites. You can also bet on the first touchdown scorer or on a player to score multiple TDs.

NFL Prop Betting FAQs

What sportsbook has the best NFL player props?

BetMGM offers a superb selection of NFL player prop bets, covering passing yards, rushing yards, receiving yards, touchdowns, interceptions, fumbles, sacks and much more. BetRivers is another great option for anyone seeking a wide range of NFL player props. WynnBET does not always offer as many player prop bets NFL as its rivals, but it does have attractive odds on its NFL props bets.

Where to place prop bets for the NFL?

We rate BetMGM, Caesars, WynnBET, BetRivers, DraftKings and FanDuel as the best sites for pro football props. You can sign up for accounts with a few of those prop betting sites, as that allows you to always claim the best available NFL prop bet odds on each game.

Can you parlay NFL prop bets?

The best online sportsbooks allow you to parlay NFL prop bets. You can combine NFL prop bet selections for a traditional parlay, or you can roll a series of prop bets on the same game together in a single bet. That is known as a same-game parlay.

What does anytime TD scorer mean?

This is a bet on a player to score a touchdown at any time during a football game. An alternative market allows you to bet on the player that will score the first touchdown, so a prop bets website will include the term “anytime” to differentiate it.

What are alt-passing yards in betting?

Online sportsbooks will set a standard over/under line on the number of passing yards a quarterback will manage in an NFL game. An alt-passing yards bet allows you to bet over/under on a different line, which allows you to make life easier in exchange for a smaller potential payout or make it harder in return for a larger payout.

For example, you might find standard odds of -112 on Patrick Mahomes to throw for over 272.5 yards, or you could go for odds of +110 on him throwing for over 292.5 yards as an alternative.

If a player doesn't play is the bet void?

Most online sportsbooks will void player prop bets and reimburse you if the player you place a wager on does not play. However, that is not universally the case, so you should check the sportsbook rules or contact customer service to make sure what its policy is on player props. NFL fans can check out our NFL prop bets guide for more information.
