Jack Del Rio and the Oakland Raiders have agreed upon a new four-year contract, replacing the original one he signed in January 2015.

Mark Davis made the announcement Friday evening by saying the initial deal had been "torn up."

"We are excited to continue building on the strong foundation that has been established and this is a significant step in achieving that goal," Davis said.

Oakland returned to the playoffs for the first time since 2002 during the 2016 season.

Del Rio was their ninth head coach since the start of the 2003 season.
