The Cleveland Browns have placed Robert Griffin III on the injured reserve with a fractured bone in his right shoulder.

Griffin III will miss at least the next eight games for the Browns.

If he is designated as the team's player to return, Griffin could return to practice in six weeks, but he must miss a minimum of eight games.

Griffin hurt his left shoulder when he was tackled at the end of a run with three minutes, 41 seconds left Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. Griffin said he was headed out of bounds, but Jalen Mills jumped out from behind Gary Barnidge and surprised Griffin at the sideline.
