The Denver Broncos have taken a slow-and-steady approach with Von Miller in training camp after he missed the offseason program due to prolonged contract negotiations.

“I’m ready to go out there and play," Miller said this week. “But the Von I know I can be, the Von I want to be, I’m not there yet."

Miller has yet to participate in a full training camp practice and was one of four Pro Bowl defenders -- Chris Harris Jr., DeMarcus Ware and Aqib Talib were the others -- the Broncos held out of their preseason opener in Chicago. But as this week drew to a close, Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said Miller was closing in on his usual practice workload.

The Broncos’ third preseason game, the one where the starters usually play into the third quarter, is Aug. 27 against the Los Angeles Rams.

“I’d like to think that if I keep working, I’ll be all right," Miller said. “When San Francisco comes into town, I should be right where I want to be at."
