The Miami Dolphins have fired Dennis Hickey after two seasons as general manager.

The Dolphins will search for a new general manager and head coach this offseason.

"I want to thank Dennis for his work over the last two years," Dolphins vice president Mike Tannenbaum said in a statement. "We talked about a number of different possibilities, but at the end, we reached this agreement. I have a great deal of respect for what he accomplished here and wish Dennis and his family well."

Chris Grier is the leading candidate to replace Hickey as general manager. Grier is currently the Dolphins' director of college scouting.
