The San Diego Chargers have exercised the fifth-year option on the contract of Corey Liuget.

In 2011, its collective bargaining agreement standardized rookie contracts with a wage scale. All first-round contracts must carry a four-year length with a fifth-year team option.

Liuget's option is worth $6.969 million instead of $10.633 million, a savings of $3.694 million.
