The 49ers and safety Dashon Goldon aren't far apart on a new contract, but that doesn't mean a deal will be reached. Goldson wants a contract with an annual average of $8 million, according to a source. The 49ers probably are not be willing to go more than $7 million per year. Goldson was given San Francisco's franchise tag earlier this year, and is scheduled to earn $6.212 on a one-year deal if the two sides can't hammer out an agreement by July 16.
