DE Carter Opts To Re-Sign With Bucs

Defensive end Kevin Carter has decided to re-sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers rather than sign a deal with the Oakland Raiders, according to ESPN.com.

The Tampa Tribune is reporting that Carter has opted to sign a one-year deal with the Bucs rather than the two-year deal the Raiders were offering.

"It was big money he turned down, but he went with his heart rather than the pocket," Carter's agent Harold Lewis told the Tribune. "A lot of people would have taken the wallet, taken more money and the guarantees to go to another city. Kevin has been playing for a long time; he's 34 years old, saved a lot of money, and found a place he and his family would like to call home for the next 34 years."

Bucs Land DB Eugene Wilson

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers landed defensive back Eugene Wilson on Friday, according to the Tampa Tribune.

"Coming from a winning tradition with the Patriots, Eugene felt he wouldn't be losing a step toward his ultimate goal, which is to win a Super Bowl, by signing with the Bucs," Wilson's agent James Sims said.

"Tampa Bay is a first-class organization, and they came at us first. We probably should have just stopped the whole process right there and signed with them, but we had to listen and see what was out there."

Redskins, Bucs And Bills Interested In Johnson?

It appears as though the Redskins, Buccaneers, and Bills are all interested in the services of free-agent wide receiver Bryant Johnson, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Talks between Johnson and the Bears cooled down because the former Arizona Cardinal has a rather steep asking price.
