Lee and Turkoglu To Practice At Point Guard For Magic

The Magic will practice with both forward Hedo Turkoglu and rookie Courtney Lee at point guard in training camp.

Coach Stan Van Gundy said both will get into the rotation for a few minutes each practice in a point role during the first week of workouts.

"He and Turkoglu together with a 2 or 3 man, sharing the ball handling duties together," Van Gundy said, "which is something I do think we can go to because I do think Courtney is capable of guarding point guards."

Magic Won't Trade Redick

Magic GM Otis Smith says that the team will not trade guard J.J. Redick at this point in time, according to Orlando Sentinel.

"He's worked his tail off. I see an improvement, I really do," Smith said of Redick. "I don’t know how that equates with minutes on the floor. We’ll see how it shakes out. He’s had a helluva summer."

Redick reportedly asked for a trade last season, upset with a lack of playing time, and isn't known to have backed off.

"Not at this point. For one, I like him," Smith said of whether or not he's looking to trade Redick. "I think he can help us. The guys who’ve played in front of him, quite frankly, are what we needed at the time."
