Elton Brand Cleared To Play

Elton Brand has been cleared to play, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.

The only reason he hasn't already taken the floor is that he hasn't gotten enough practice time to get back in the flow of an NBA game.

"We're looking at the last six to eight games. We're trying to gauge it. But we'll have a better feel for it on Monday," said Brand.

"If I'm healthy, I want to play," Brand said. "It's not in my protocol to shut it down."

Clippers Sign Marcus Williams, Waive Aaron Williams

The Los Angeles Clippers today signed free agent forward Marcus E. Williams from the Austin Toros of the NBA Development League for the remainder of the season and waived forward Aaron Williams. Marcus Williams is the 23rd Gatorade Call-up from the NBA Development League this season. Selected in the second round of the 2007 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs, Marcus Williams appeared in seven preseason games with the Spurs and averaged 3.3 points and 2.6 rebounds before being waived on Oct. 27 and joining the Toros. The former University of Arizona standout re-signed with the Spurs on Dec. 26 and played in one game before being waived on Dec. 29.

Brand Could Return For Final Five Or Six Games

Elton Brand joined his Clipper teammates in a full scrimmage on Monday, marking the first time the former All-Star forward has done that since rupturing his Achilles' tendon last summer, the L.A. Times are reporting.

The Times are also reporting that Brand may be in uniform for the final five or six games, according to head coach Mike Dunleavy.

"If we can get him then, it'll be great. If we can't, we'll see what we can get," Dunleavy said.

"More conditioning needs to be done for sure, but it's a good first step. It's the first time he's been up and down at all, as far as banging with contact. All the drill work looks good, running up and down with nobody hitting you. Now it's being able to get to the point to really compete."
