Jim Irsay 'On The Mend,' Grateful For Support

Feb 7, 2024 8:28 AM

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay's health appears to be shifting in the right direction.

Irsay posted his first message to X in nearly a month on Tuesday, saying, "On the mend. Grateful for all the messages of love and support."

The Colts released a statement on Jan. 9 saying Irsay was undergoing treatment for a severe respiratory illness. He was hospitalized, though it is unclear whether he has been released.

All of this came on the heels of Irsay being found unresponsive in his home on the morning of Dec. 8 in what authorities described as a suspected overdose, with a police officer administering a dose of Narcan -- a medication used to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.

Jim Irsay Was Found Unresponsive In Early December

Jan 17, 2024 3:49 PM

Jim Irsay was found unresponsive and struggling to breathe before being transported to a hospital by paramedics on the morning of Dec. 8, according to a report.

Irsay received a dose of Narcan, a medicine that quickly reverses an opioid overdose, from the first police officers on the scene, according to the report, and "responded slightly" before paramedics transported him to a hospital. The incident was classified as a suspected overdose in the documents, according to the report.

Irsay has not been seen publicly in recent weeks, but he did attend a Dec. 16 game, which was eight days after the emergency at his home.

Irsay has a long history of addiction and has admitted to past usage of opioids and other drugs. He revealed in a November interview with HBO Sports that he had been to rehab "at least 15 times." He also said he had a near-fatal incident years ago, saying he went "code blue" and had to be revived.

Anthony Richardson Says He Won't Change Playing Style

Jan 12, 2024 8:54 AM

Despite suffering a season-ending shoulder injury, Anthony Richardson says he won't change his playing style as he prepares for his second season with the Indianapolis Colts.

Richardson has given some thought to how he sustained his injuries.

"I don't think so," Richardson said of changing how he plays. "It's just a matter of me just being out there and just learning when to get down, when not to get down. Some of the injuries were unfortunate. My ankle got stepped on, hitting my knee on the turf really hard. Just stuff like that. Stuff that I can't control."

Instead of playing less aggressively, Richardson wants to play smarter.

"The [injuries] that I can control, I've got to prevent those," he said. "Like me slowing up near the end zone, getting a concussion, that was completely on me. Getting tackled [against the Tennessee Titans], I can't really prevent that. I was trying to brace myself for it and just unfortunately my shoulder just did what it did. But I don't think I have to change the way I play. Just being a little smarter."
