Cowboys Begin Work On New Stadium

ESPN - Tarrant County crews on Tuesday began demolishing houses in preparation for a new Dallas Cowboys stadium.

The 30-acre stadium and most of its 25,000 parking spaces will be built on more than 75 acres of homes, apartment complexes and motels. More than 100 houses and 1,000 apartment units must be torn down, and the county planned to tear down eight houses Tuesday, said County Precinct Administrator Jon Weist.

Two neighbors watched with sadness as graders demolished the houses and loaded the debris into dump trucks bound for the city's landfill.

"It is sad because it is not just houses they are taking," Melodie Darden told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram for a story in Tuesday's online edition. "How do you put a dollar on sentimental value?" [READ]
