Dan Issel, as RealGM and several other sources announced on December 24, will make his resignation official this morning, making an official announcement after a meeting with Denver GM Kiki Vandeweghe reports Michael BeDan of the Rocky Mountain News. Nuggets assistant Mike Evans is expected be named interim head coach, with Issel joining Tim Floyd and Jeff Van Gundy in the unemployment line from the NBA coaching ranks already this season. The Nuggets have maintained their stance that nothing has been decided yet, and insist that Issel could still be the team's coach. "My understanding is that Dan and Kiki will meet," Nuggets assistant general manager David Fredman said Tuesday. "Whether there will be resolution, I can't tell you." One scenario has Issel remaining with the organization in a different capacity, with Vandeweghe and Kroenke Sports Enterprises president Don Elliman stating publicly that they hope Issel always is affiliated with the Nuggets, even if he is not coach and president. |
