Eagles' Reid Still Confident In Akers
6th October, 2008 - 4:45 pm
Philadelphia Inquirer - Eagles' Head Coach Andy Reid is still confident in kicker David Akers despite his inability to hit field goals longer than 45 yards this season.

"The distances are there," Akers said of his recent misses. "It would just be nice to hit them between [the goalposts] once in a while. I go out, try my best, and I'm coming up right apparently. Is it frustrating? Yeah. Do I feel like I'm letting my teammates down? Absolutely."

Akers missed a 47 and 50-yarder in a four-point loss to the Bears in Week Four and missed a 50-yarder against the Redskins that would have given the Eagles a 17-0 lead against the Redskins in an eventual loss this Sunday.

"David is going to make a lot more of those than he is going to miss," Reid said. "Down the stretch here, he'll be fine. Absolutely, I'm confident." [READ]
