Aikman: Sometimes QB Switch Is A Must

Boston Herald - There have been rumors in New England that rookie Kevin O'Connell could replace Matt Cassel at quarterback soon depending on the latter's performance in the coming weeks.

"Well, that’s another thing he hasn’t had to deal with before now - a quarterback controversy," NFL Fox lead analyst Troy Aikman said. "That’s something he’s avoided. He’s just going to have to deal with it."

The Patriots are 2-1 with Cassel under center this season.

"It wouldn’t shock me, and I don’t know anything about him," Aikman said of O’Connell. "I know that in the game against Miami, you can’t throw the ball 31 times and have 130 yards passing. That’s just not enough out of your passing game. Whether that’s reflective of quarterback play or wide receiver play or offensive line play or a combination, that’s just not enough production. As we all know, it’s a bottom-line business. Quarterbacks are in the business of winning football games. When you don’t win games, changes are made." [READ]
