Rivers Blames Himself For Chargers' Loss
15th September, 2008 - 10:39 am
San Diego Union-Tribune - Chargers' quarterback Philip Rivers has blamed himself for the team's close 39-38 loss to the Broncos on Sunday afternoon, according to San Diego Union-Tribune.

"We put up 38 points, our red-zone offense was real good, but I missed two easy touchdowns," Rivers said. "I'm kicking myself about that."

Rivers wishes he could have had three passes back, ones that led to two field goals. On consecutive plays from the Denver 16, Rivers underthrew Mike Tolbert and overthrew Chris Chambers at the goal line with a 7-0 deficit in the first quarter. He said he also missed Antonio Gates on second-and-9 from the Denver 10 early in the fourth quarter.

"If we win the game, I might not even mention them," Rivers said. "But you think back and say, 'Man, if I'd hit one of those, we win the game.' "

San Diego is 0-2 heading into Week Three.

"As much as we can complain about it, it's not going to change the record," Rivers said. "We're 0-2, and those guys are in the driver's seat very, very early in the season. I think it's too early to get carried away with the 2-0, 0-2 record. I think we let 'em escape one today." [READ]
