Thomas Could Return To Saints When Healthy

Advocate - Hollis Thomas' tenure with the Saints may not be over after all, according to Advocate.

After announcing on Wednesday that the defensive tackle had been placed on injured reserve, the Saints said Thursday that they had reached an settlement with Thomas.

When a player is placed on injured reserve he is out for the remainder of the season, but Saints' GM Mickey Loomis confirmed that NFL rules allow teams to reach an injury settlement with a player within the first five days after he is placed on IR.

The settlement allows Thomas to become a free agent and sign with any team, including New Orleans.

Coach Sean Payton said Thursday that the Saints could re-sign Thomas when he’s healthy and that they would monitor his recovery. [READ]
