Mawae: Criticism Of Young Unfair
19th August, 2008 - 10:47 am
The Daily News Journal - Titans' center Kevin Mawae thinks that everyone should lay off Vince Young and that criticism of the quarterback's preseason struggles are unfair, according to The Daily News Journal.

"Everybody gets caught up in the passing accuracy and completion percentage and stuff like that, but the one stat that matters the most in this locker room is winning," Mawae said. "Vince has proven himself to be a winner. All the stuff that happens in the preseason will be forgotten about in about two weeks."

Young is 7-for-19 in two preseason games.

"Fans and people are putting a whole lot of stock into a whole lot of nothing right now. He is a better leader in the huddle and on the field than he has been in the past ... and he is becoming a better quarterback each and every week," Mawae said.

"I've heard the radio shows and (read) the articles in the paper and some of the fans, that Vince isn't throwing the ball well and the timing is off. Well, you know what? We are only using a quarter of our offense right now, and there are things he can do that other quarterbacks can't do in this league." [READ]
