Pats' Mayo Already A Film Junkie
12th August, 2008 - 2:03 pm
Boston Herald - Jerod Mayo has been spotted in the linebacker’s room at Gillette Stadium in the early hours of the morning studying tape.

When Mayo wasn’t on the field in Knoxville, he always seemed to be in the film room, studying, trying to improve. UT head coach John Chavis said Mayo got into the act as a true freshman and, before long, he was providing the coaching staff with pointers, based on his analysis of game films.

“He was a student of the game. That was the biggest thing. He tried to make his game as good as it could be in every aspect,” Chavis said when reached yesterday by phone. “We always encourage our players to watch as much film as they can. The ones that come back and tell you what they’ve seen and ask questions are the ones who are doing a good job studying film."

“And it never failed Jerod was going to have questions about what he saw on film. Then later in his career, he’d start to point out tips that would help everybody. Occasionally, he’d come in with things he picked up that I hadn’t even seen at that point.” [READ]
