McCardell Owes The Bucs $1.5 Million

ESPN - San Diego touchdown machine Keenan McCardell owes the Tampa Bay $1.5 million of the bonuses he received from the team in 2002.

"When Keenan McCardell refused to report to Tampa Bay in 2004 as a tactic to renegotiate his contract, he violated its terms and is required to return the $1.5 million received by him as signing and roster bonuses," said Dennis Curran, senior vice president and general counsel of the NFL Management Council, which supported the decision of the arbitrator. "Upholding those provisions discourages player holdouts at all teams." [READ]
