Eagles Looking At Kickers With Akers Nursing Strained Hamstring

Courier Post Online - The Eagles coaching staff was planning to use at least part of the next couple of days trying out place-kickers in the fear that David Akers may be lost for at least a week.

Akers, who strained a hamstring in Sunday's 42-3 win over the 49ers, underwent an MRI Monday, and the initial reports were encouraging.

"The MRI was a little better than we anticipated," Eagles coach Andy Reid said Monday. "We'll see how it goes here in the next couple of days."

In the meantime, Reid said he and player personnel vice president Tom Heckert would begin to go over their list of kickers to see who may be available if Akers isn't ready for Sunday's game against Oakland.

There are a couple of recently released veterans available -- Billy Cundiff, who was just let go by the Cowboys and Aaron Elling, who was recently released by Minnesota -- among them. [READ]
