One victory, Aaron McKie says, will not be enough to convince everyone the 76ers are back. The Sixers have traveled that road before, even as they won 56 games last season and went to the NBA Finals. Saturday night's 98-91 victory in Dallas, though, at least had to send up a flare. With McKie in just his second appearance of the season following a shoulder injury and Allen Iverson in his season debut after recovering from an elbow injury, the Sixers ended their opening losing streak at five games. With McKie directing the offense and Iverson drawing double- and triple-teams, they effectively ran and rebounded, keeping the Mavericks on their heels. "Over time, it'll send a signal,'' McKie said, looking ahead to tonight's game against the Miami Heat. "I don't think one game will do it. It took us so long last year for people to gain respect for us, for our style, for how hard we play, how we go about it. |
