Last season, the team learned first hand what bursting out of the starting blocks can mean over the course of an 82-game season. Larry Brown's team started 10-0, built the record as high as 41-14 by mid-February, before eventually cruising home 56-26 as the top seed in the East. Well, any success the Sixers earn this year will come from having done it the opposite way. After battling to the wire, but still coming up short, Thursday in Houston, the Sixers are 0-5, the worst start since Brown's inaugural year. But at least there seem to be some indicators of progress. Most promising, Aaron McKie has finally returned to action following surgery. In his debut, McKie showed the expected rust of a player who hadn't played a serious game of hoops since June, shooting 3-for-15 for eight points. But he also recorded six rebounds and 10 assists in 42 minutes. |
