It was a glaring weakness everyone talked about. Losing Shareef Abdur-Rahim's 20 points a game left a big hole to fill. Michael Dickerson was expected to fill the gap, despite a relatively weak 00/01 season after his break-out year the previous season. But for the second straight season he finds himself injured early and unable to contribute. Dickerson has been put on IR with a pulled groin. It's so bad he can't walk without help. His back-up is Nick Anderson. Many questioned Anderson's ability to improve on last season's 1.8 points per game. Not that it matters, since he's injured as well. They haven't shot over 43% in any of their games yet, and Friday night missed 25 of their 31 first quarter shots. So far they've activated Antonis Fotsis. He looked like a good late-second round draft pick, but hasn't shown anything yet in his quest for his first NBA basket. Will they dip into the pool of old-timers and pick up someone like Jimmy Jackson? |
