Don't be surprised to see George Lynch on the Hornets' bench on a regular basis now. Just don't look for him back on the court any time soon.

Lynch, acquired from Philadelphia in a trade late in the preseason, had surgery for a second time to repair a foot fracture that had not properly healed. He's now off crutches, wearing a cast-like boot on his foot and going on the road with the team.

"He's on schedule, that's the best thing," trainer Terry Kofler said Friday.

His recovery time has been estimated at eight to 12 weeks, meaning he will likely remain on the injured list until sometime in January.

"It will be good for him to be with us on the road, too," coach Paul Silas said. "That way he'll become that much more familiar with the guys and with what we're doing."
