CHARLOTTE

Tractor Traylor has learned to rent, not own, in his brief NBA career.

He has already been traded four times since being selected by the Dallas Mavericks with the sixth pick of the 1998 Draft - including three times in the past year.

But there are indications that Traylor may be finding a place he can call home as he settles in with the Charlotte Hornets.

He's solidly entrenched in Coach Paul Silas' rotation going into tonight's game at Chicago, and that role could be expanded as the season progresses.

"I think this is a great opportunity for me," Traylor said yesterday before the team flew to the Windy City. "It's a situation where I'm getting a chance to play and the coach is real supportive and all the guys are great, so it's just a matter of going out and working hard and doing what I can to help this team win.

"Everything's going great so far. I like Charlotte, I like this team, and I think it's going to be a great situation."
